Gordon Campbell Gray
The founder of Campbell GRAY Hotels and the creative force behind iconic hotels such as Le Gray in Beirut, One Aldwych in London and Carlisle Bay in Antigua.
Gordon is a trained hotelier and gained his initial experience working in large hotel companies, but always had a desire to focus on the smaller individual hotel sector.
He is involved in every aspect of the creation, design and philosophy of his hotels and personally curates their extensive contemporary art collections.
During his twenties he spent several years running Save the Children projects in Bangladesh, Morocco and Nicaragua. He is a Vice President of Save the Children and an ardent fundraiser for many other charities. He is passionate about the environment, encouraging other hoteliers to do more to take care of our planet.
He was named Hotelier of the Year at the 2002 Catey Awards and received the first Leading Legend award from Leading Hotels of the World in 2010. He was recognised again by the Hotel Cateys in 2011 with an Outstanding Contribution to the Hotel Industry award.
Alan has held senior positions in Paris, Zurich and Cairo for IHG and Le Meridien and lately 12 years with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Dubai as Senior Vice President Africa and Executive Committee member, managing a portfolio of 25 properties. Alan manages the team and the running of Campbell GRAY Hotels, and other businesses within the Audeh Group.
Nick joined from Dorchester Collection where he was Area Director of Finance for over 7 years, playing an instrumental role in openings of Coworth Park and 45 Park Lane. Prior to that, he spent 10 years with Maybourne Hotel Group as Director of Finance at both Claridge’s and The Connaught. He joined Campbell GRAY Hotels as Finance Director in November 2015. He is also an active supporter of the Princes Trust charity.
Development & Commercial Director
Spencer has worked extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the US. Initially specialising in sales & marketing, he moved into general management during his time at Viceroy Hotels. He has opened a number of high profile properties and brings a wealth of experience. Spencer joined Campbell Gray Hotels as head of operations and now leads commercial activities and is part of the development team, based in London.
Regional Development Director – MEA
Following his MBA, Alain joined the development team at Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, working on 9 hotels and residences in the MEA region before joining Emaar where he successfully developed over 15 mixed use projects. Alain returns to Campbell GRAY Hotels after having worked at Le Gray Beirut in 2009 and leads our development in the
Middle East and Africa.
Human Resources Director
After studying clinical and organisational psychology, Daniel went on to hold senior roles in both operations and human resources in some of Venice’s best hotels. He spent 7 years as Area Human Resources Manager for the Hotel Excelsior, Hotel des Bains and Villa Cipriani, overseeing 450 associates. He now oversees all human
resources activities for the group.
Finance Project Manager
Catherine started her career in London with Intercontinental, before being involved in several high profile openings including Conrad in Chelsea Harbour and The Metropolitan Park Lane. Catherine’s current role covers internal auditing, financial reporting and implementation of all accounting systems.
After completing his Master’s degree in Business Administration, Oliver gained experience working across a wide range of departments in luxury hotels in Europe and the US for Intercontinental and Four Seasons. Oliver joined the pre-opening team at Le Gray, Beirut and works on all of the group’s creative work.
Project Development Manager
Anne’s experience in 5-star hospitality includes The Gleneagles Hotel and General Manager posts at various Relais & Chateaux, Dakota Glasgow, The Montpellier Chapter in Cheltenham and our own The Machrie, Islay. She co-founded Cellarmasters & Mor and created an award-winning ‘Best Deli in Scotland’. Anne now overlooks strategic projects, quality control, refurbishments and new openings.
