Wine & Arak

Wine making in the Levant dates back to Biblical times and, today, the Lebanese wine making tradition is better than ever.
Fertile land, generous spring rain and an average of 300 days of sunshine a year make for great grapes and rich, full-bodied wines that have made the agricultural Bekaa Valley famous.

Today, wine making has extended to parts of the north coast and the total production has exceeded 7 million bottles a year including red, white and rosé.

We also produce a famous aniseed-infused wine spirit called Arak which we serve blended with water, on ice, to enjoy with traditional Lebanese mezzes and grills.

Today, many of the country’s wineries are available for visitors and offer tours of the estates and the caves and great wine tasting sessions which you can pair with a visit to Baalbeck, Anjar or Beiteddine.
