How to Find Us

The journey through the Hebrides is all part of the experience

The Machrie Hotel & Golf Links is located on the Isle of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland and is accessible via ferry or short flight from Glasgow, or some of our guests arrive in their own helicopter, plane or boat

Car & Ferry

Travelling from Glasgow by car, you take the picturesque route past Loch Lomond and Loch Fyne to Kennacraig which takes about 2½ hours. You leave Kennacraig on a Calmac Ferry to Port Askaig or Port Ellen which takes about 2 hours. If you wish to leave your car in Kennacraig, you can travel as a foot passenger for less than £7 each way. We can arrange transfers to and from the ferry ports – charges apply. Bringing your car is less than £35 each way. Advance bookings for your car are advisable.

Calmac also operate a ferry from Islay to Oban on a Wednesday and Saturday.

Linking Islay and Northern Ireland

The Kintyre Express is a fast passenger ferry service that links up Islay and Northern Ireland. This service runs from April to September and links Ballycastle on the Antrim Coast to Port Ellen on Islay. This allows you to play Royal Portrush, Portstewart, Castle Rock, Ballyliffin and explore Northern Ireland.
